Exposure Times, Line Lists, and Standard Stars
How to take internal calibrations
- Use a "Lamps Only" script from the EFS
GUI:
- Select "Lamps Only" from the "Obs Mode" pull-down on the EFS
- Select your desired filter, slit, echelle angle and cross
disperser angle (Note that the "Nod Pattern" is ignored)
- Click "GO"
For low-res, you will see the following sequence:
- flat lamp on (saved)
- detector flush
- flat lamp off (saved)
- neon lamp on (saved)
- detector flush
- argon lamp on (saved)
- detector flush
For high-res you will get one less arc frame:
- flat lamp on (saved)
- detector flush
- flat lamp off (saved)
- neon + argon + krypton + xenon lamps on (saved)
- detector flush
- Use the Cal. Acq. Tool:
- Setup NIRSPEC using a "Setup Only" script from the EFS
- Enter the number of flats (lamps on) and darks (lamps off)
frames that you want
- Enter the integration time and coadds for each flat/dark frame
- Select which arc lamps you want
- Enter the integration time and coadds for each arc frame
- Click "GO"
