Follow these steps at the end of the night to turn LRIS off:
- Shut down instrument.
From the desktop menu, select
LRIS Control -> End of night shutdown.
This will:
- Close the trapdoor.
- Stow all blue optics in the carousels.
- Turn off all lamps.
- Stop all LRIS GUI windows.
- Stop MAGIQ.
Quit any existing MAGIQ Observer gui.
- Stop other windows.
Quit any existing FACSUM, XMET, and TkRose windows by clicking and
holding the right mouse button in the window's titlebar and
releasing on the QUIT item.
- Specify any configuration changes.
If this is not the last night of your run, you may need to
update your slitmask/grating/filter list for the next night.
Do not email your instructions to your support astronomer!
Instead, simply update your instrument configuration using the
observer
configuration form. Be sure to validate and submit your
updates after completing the form. NOTE: You must
complete this step by 7:00am HST for the changes to take
effect!
- Remove starlist.
If it is important to keep your targets confidential, be
sure to delete your starlist file.
- Print electronic log.
If you would like a copy of our electronic log for your run,
you must save or print a copy before leaving (since the logs
are not externally accessible). Please consult the
instructions posted on the KEOLA webpage.
- Complete POC form.
Please complete a Post
Observing Comments form to let us know how your run
went. You responses to this form are logged and tracked and
are important to us in maintaining and improving nighttime
observing operations.
- Take your stuff.
Before leaving remote ops, please be sure you have all your
belongings and throw away any trash.
