IRSA provides a convenient finder chart tool at http://irsa.ipac.caltech.edu/applications/FinderChart/ that yields images from DSS, 2MASS, and SDSS (if available). The tool accepts single input or tables.

We have developed a simple script (keck2irsa) to convert Keck-formatted starlists into the IRSA table format. This allows users to create finder charts for their entire list (up to 50 targets).

To create a table for the IRSA finder chart tool, follow these steps:

1. Process your list:

   e.g."keck2irsa /kroot/starlists/observer/star.list > ~/irsa.list"

2. Point your Browser to http://irsa.ipac.caltech.edu/applications/FinderChart/
3. Click "Upload Table"
4. Click "Browse..." and select ~/irsa.list
5. Set "Subimage Size"
6. Settings (IRSA defaults):
   • "Survey" (all)
   • "Flip" (no makes North = up, East = left)
   • "Reproject" (no, otherwise very slow)
   • "Coordinate Grid" (no)
   • "Mark Input Position" (yes)
7. Click "Submit", you will be taken to a webpage that auto-refreshes and shows you the table of finder charts as it's created. Each target takes 15-30 to process.
