The power status of all the NIRSPEC components can be checked using the command "showpower". If there all some compoents that need to be powered on, you can power up ALL systems using the command "power on all"

If power to NIRSPEC is interrupted, due to loss of instrument cooling or HELCO dropouts, you can check the power status with "showpower" from any xterm window.

When NIRSPEC is undergoing a cooldown or a warmup, or the cryogenic state is interrupted by loss of CCR cooling, it may be necessary to power off the motor controller to avoid driving the cryogenic mechanisms when temperatures are not stable. To turn off the service that provides motion to the internal mechanisms inside NIRSPEC, type "modify -s nsrestart nsmotor2=stop"
