NIRC/Guider Focus and Tilt Comparison

On 10 May 1998, Malign was run at various rotator position angles (ROTPPOSN) on both the NIRC detector and the guide camera. This provides a comparison of the focus and the secondary tilts between the two systems as a function of p.a.

From this, one could, for example, focus a star on the guider, offset the focus by the amount shown below, and provide a well-focused image to teh NIRC detector in situations in which one cannot focus directly on the NIRC detector. One such situation may be focusing at 3-5 microns, using the max12ur timing pattern. Note that elevation effects are not addressed here.
