Instruments Accessible on the Same Night
|
Keck 1
Hires, Osiris, and PCS/SSC each occupy separate nasmyth positions and any can be accessed when the tertiary mirror is installed. KPF has a fiber feed through AO to the instrument in the basement and can also be accessed any time the tertiary mirror is installed and at the same time as Hires, Osiris, and PCS/SSC.
LRIS, LRISp, and Mosfire all share the cassegrain position and can never be accessed at the same time.
Note that 'sometimes' refers to the fact that either Mosfire, LRIS, or LRIS in polorimetry mode can be installed at the cassegrain position, so whichever is currently in beam will be accessable.
There is currently no policy on which cassegrain instrument is kept in beam if none of the three are scheduled for science that night.

Keck 2
Deimos, Kcwi, and Nirspec each occupy the same nasmyth position and only one of the three can be in beam at any time. We currently do not have a policy as to which is in beam when none of the three are scheduled for science.
Nirc2, Nires, and PCS/SSC occupy separate nasmyth positions from each other and each can be accessed when the tertiary mirror is installed, along with whichever instrument is installed at the port that Deimos/Kcwi/Nirpsec share.
Nirspao (Nirspec moved behind AO) is only available during scheduled Nirspao runs.
ESI is a cassegrain instrument and no other instrument can be accessed when it is in use.
