5. Description: Past experience shows that NIRSPEC will develop some problem
that requires on-sky testing. Although we have had luck in software testing
during the day, we often need a moving telescope and real DCS (often a daytime
schedule conflict). The current problem we face is an inability to move the
rotator in stationary mode at startup. We think this problem can be solved
by changing the way DCS reports demanded rotator positions to NIRSPEC, but
there is concern that any DCS change will have adverse and unintended consequences,
such as incorrect rotator information from DCS.

7. Data reduction/reporting: virtually no data reduction is needed. Any solutions
will be posted on the NIRSPEC webpage and communicated to observers.

9. The past year of NIRSPEC software improvements have resulted in time savings
of ~3.5 nights based on quicker crash recovery. We have been running our new
server code with much fewer crashes for 2.5 months. We are now finding smaller
and smaller problems to correct.
