Summary of NGS AO engineering requests to the ETAC:

We had a meeting on Friday April 16, 2004

Attendees:

-        Erik J., Randy C., Marcos v. D., Antonin B. and David L.M.

-        DLM and Peter W. had a discussion following the meeting.

Priority 1 requests below are in support of NIRC2 performance documentation.

Priority 2 requests below are in support of AO/NIRC2 performance documentation for the AO handover.

Priority 3 requests support some of the aspects of AO performance. Below follow some notes about those:

-        The emissivity study does not require a well-phased telescope and could be done on PCS night (when/if eng. time is available)

-        The coronagraphy project has been stopped because of the AO rotator pupil alignment problem. We want to resume it. See dlm’s web page for coronagraphy results to date.

-        The impact of atmospheric dispersion for shorter wavelength has never been measured and was included in our list after discussion with Peter.

Priority 4 requests are in support of LGS integration. Those are NGS tasks that do not require the Laser. If engineering time is available, we would be happy to perform these tests.
