Hi Hien,

I am requesting one half night for MAGIQ+NIRSPEC engineering on Keck II.   

1. PI: J. Lyke, Co-I: S. Kwok, J. Johnson
2. MAGIQ Image Quality Measurement
3. n/a
4. 1/2 night
5. Test the "interleved" mode of IQ measurement.  While guiding on a suitable guide star, the IQ element will be inserted and an image quality image will be taken with the guider between guide frames.  Once 20-30 seconds of IQ data have been acquired, IQ software will determine whether piston or tip/tilt offloads to the secondary mirror are possible.
6. Keck II + NIRSPEC (RNAS)
7. Analysis will most likely be done by software in real time.  Back up plan is for Sergey to analyze the data
8. We prefer the October date.  The other nights are too soon after the July engineering time for proper prep
9. Our June engineering nights were hampered by a NIRSPEC temperature controller failure.

This is the call for Keck engineering time proposals for period August 2008 - October 2008. If you intend to ask for night-time engineering during this period, please fill out the attached proposal template for each test and submit for review by the engineering time allocation committee (ETAC). The proposal deadline is 14 July 2008. 

Please submit your proposals by email to me at htran@keck.hawaii.edu.
