The following routine is recommended to end the night.
Right-click in the background to get the pull-down menu.
Select "NIRSPEC Control Menu" --> "*End of Night Shutdown*"
If the End of night shutdown fails for any reason, try running "NIRSPEC Control Menu" --> "Kill GUIs Restart Server".
From the background menu with the right mouse button, select "K2 Guider Eavesdropping" --> "MAGIQ (guider)" --> "STOP ObserverUI"
Kill any FACSUM or XMET tools you have up by holding the Right Mouse button in the window's titlebar and selecting "Close"
Please see the DVD/CD Data Backup documentation for more information on our DVD/CD data backup process. Writing a full night's data to DVD typically takes up to 1 hour or so.
If it is important to keep your targets confidential, be sure to delete your starlist file. If it was changed, be sure you have saved a copy.
If you would like a copy of our electronic log for your run, you must save or print a copy before leaving (since the logs are not externally accessible). Please consult the instructions posted on the KEOLA webpage.
Please complete a Post Observing Comments form to let us know how your run went. You responses to this form are logged and tracked and are important to us in maintaining and improving nighttime observing operations.
Log out of the host machine from which you ran NIRSPEC (i.e, Pohue) via the pull-down menu accessed by right clicking in the background of that machine's native display window: "Exit FVWM".
