The QACITS sofware is in charge of keeping the star image
accurately centered in the Vortex coronagraph. Details on how to run
QACITS during the night can be found in
the QACITS
User Manual. This page
describes how to install QACITS in a numbered account and how to
check the software is ready for the night observations.
Let us assume observers using Vortex have been assigned the
numbered account nirc16 (note that this procedure
would be valid for any other numbered account), the
directory /home/nirc16 exists in kapoho, and the
VNC servers for nirc16 have already been created.
- Log in as user nirc2eng in kapoho
- cd QACITS
- scp -pr ./qacits* nirc16@kapoho:/home/nirc16/
- Open a VNC viewer on nirc16-control0 (blue background
VNC desktop).
- On the background menu: IRAF/IDL -> IDL -> IDL 8.1
will open a terminal with an IDL sesion in kapoho.
- At the IDL prompt:
- cd, 'qacits'
- .r run_qacits_sci
- run_qacits_sci, 10, .5, 50, data_dir='~/qacits_data/',
log_file_name='log/UT2015-10-26_nirc2_qacits.log', file_nb=575,
/OFFLINE
- The script will run through several iterations and should end
with no errors in the command line. Several windows will popup
during the iterations. The final distribution of windows should look
like in the following screenshot.
