Pre-Run checkout for KCWI

1. Launch primary VNC desktops.
   • Right-click in background and select KVNCGUI.
   • Enter kcwieng at the prompt.
   • Enter the password in the password entry field.
   • Click on Main tab.
   • Click on Enabled checkbox next to Primary.
   • Click Launch Viewers.
   • [AT THE SUMMIT] this might not work, and you might have to launch a kcwi:1 VNC session manually
2. Check communication with the instrument.
   • From the background menu, open a terminal on kcwiserver as user kcwirun.
   • run ping kcwiprivate
   • Verify that the output looks normal:

   PING kcwiprivate (192.168.1.2) 56(84) bytes of data.
   64 bytes from kcwiprivate (192.168.1.2): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=4.88 ms
   64 bytes from kcwiprivate (192.168.1.2): icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=1.16 ms
   64 bytes from kcwiprivate (192.168.1.2): icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=1.19 ms
   

   The actual times reported are not important. If this fails, the instrument is not connected to the computer room servers. Please ask for assistance from Instrument Engineers or SAs.
3. Power up KCWI.
   • From the background menu: KCWI Engineering -> Power Up KCWI
   • If for some reason this fails, the manual procedure to do that is here
4. Run testAll
   • KCWI Troubheshooting -> KCWI Trouble Diagnosis -> testAll
   • Individual elements can be tested using the same submenu
5. Initialize stages.
   • The calibration unit, the blue exchanger unit, the blue articulation units contain mechanisms that need to be initialized
   • Calibration unit: all axis
   • Articulation stage: camera focus
   • Blue exchanger: grating rotator
   • These are all available from background menu under KCWI Engineering (Home calibration unit and Home Blue Stages)
6. Take test image with main camera and Focal Plane Camera
