Background
DEIMOS is typically rotated by using the handpaddle that sends
rotation commands through roto. If roto is
inoperative, you can use the following emergency procedure to
rotate DEIMOS.
CAUTION: as explained below, this procedure involves
bypassing the normal rotator limit mechanism and could damage the
rotator.
Procedure
- Open power panel just below glycol panel.

- Toggle bypass switch to BYPASS.

- Rotate the instrument using either the F
(forward) or the R (reverse) pushbuttons.
CAUTION: The bypass switch bypasses the limit switches. The
rotator could be damaged if you rotate beyond the limits.
Watch the cable wrap to determine that it the position is
within safe operating range.

- When done rotating, toggle the bypass switch back to
NORMAL to restore computer control of the rotator.
