Proposals for Keck engineering time should be submitted via email to Hien Tran, E-TAC chair, well in advance of the night requested (typically 3 months) in order to allow for lead time in the schedule. A call for proposals reminder will be sent out as reminder prior to E-TAC meetings. A general HTML form for proposals will be developed and linked below in the near future. Engineering time requests will be reviewed by the E-TAC on a quarterly basis (or thereabouts) and time will be awarded on a competitive basis. Please note that in the absence of compelling reasons for engineering use, observing time will be given back to science when it is considered the best use of telescope time. Proposals are simple in nature and should be submitted prior to the ETAC meeting. The are used to organize the engineering and instrument schedule. Proposals should include the following::

  1. Names of principal investigator, PI, and other personnel involved in observing, data reduction or reporting.
  2. Purpose of test (development project, general telescope engineering, instrument commissioning, problem trouble shooting, data quality, etc.)
  3. Test number (from "remedy") if applicable.
  4. Test duration in hours (time requested).
  5. Brief description of test.
  6. Telescope / Instrument configuration required
  7. Plan for data reduction, analysis, and reporting.
  8. Preferred dates of observations and dates to avoid.
  9. (optional) Status and progress reports from previous use of engineering time.

The schedule links above show the scheduled nights and nights reserved for engineering. These pages also include links to the original proposals, detailed execution plans, and reports for the respective nights.
