Below are the steps for acquiring internal arcs and flats.
- Run the configAOforLamps command in a NIRC2 waikoko
xterm. This will configure the AO bench for acquiring
spectroscopic flats and arcs.
- Using the lamp command, toggle lamps on and off

For example, to toggle the argon lamp on and off, use the following commands:
- lamp argon on
- lamp argon off
- For the internal flat lamp, the lamp name is "white", for a white light
source (type "help lamp" for details).
- Running the lamp command without an argument will provide the
status of the lamps:
waikoko{nirc5}1: lamp
argonpwr = 0
kryptpwr = 0
neonpwr = 0
xenonpwr = 0
lamppwr = 0
The flat lamp = "lamppwr" in the lamp command output above.
- Setup NIRC2 for acquiring flats or arcs. See the exposure
