MAGIQ is the Multifunction Acquisition, Guiding, and Image Quality
project. In encompasses both hardware and software.
This document is aimed primarily to those instruments
with the MAGIQ camera hardware. For all instruments,
the MAGIQ software consists of several parts:
- GUIs:
- MagiqGui (OA Gui) -- OA interface
- ObserverUI -- Observer interface
- Camera Diagnostics -- Engineering interface
- MagiqServer -- a top-level server that delivers images to the
GUIs and sends commands from the GUIs to the low-level
software
- Low-level servers:
- Camera Server -- controls the camera parameters and takes the
images
- Mech Server -- controls the moving mechanisms of the MAGIQ
system
- Filter Wheel 1 -- holds neutral-density filters
- Filter Wheel 2 -- holds photometric and long-pass filters
- Focus -- allows remote control of guider focus
- Image Quality -- holds a Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensing
element
ObserverUI:
- Right click in background menu
- Guider Eavesdropping
- MAGIQ Menu
- Start ObserverUI
Check Server Status:
- Point web browser to:
MAGIQ Server Status (http://www.keck.hawaii.edu/observing/magiq/index.php)
MagiqServer, MagiqGui (OA Gui), Diagnostic Gui, ObserverUI:
- Start a DCSGUI as kNobs on kNserver
- Select desired program from "DCS" -> "MAGIQ" menu
MagiqServer (OAs/SAs/support only):
- login as kNobs to kN-magiq-server
- magiq start MagiqServer
MagiqGui (OAs/SAs/support only):
- login as kNobs to kN-magiq-server
- magiq start MagiqGui
ObserverUI:
- login as kNobs to kN-magiq-server
- magiq start ObserverUI
