One Spec Quadrant Looks Dead

You have started up NIRSPEC and one of the quadrants on the Spec detector appears dead. Don't panic. This has been seen on a few occasions and in every case, shutting down the control software and server and restarting fixes things. It appears that the server can come up in a funky state once every few months such that one quadrant of the spec detector looks like its pushing up daisies.
