Motor move problems
Motors Will Not Initialize or Move

The symptoms:

Requests to initialize the motors seem, at first, to be working but NIRSPEC never comes back to acknowledge the initialization completed.

Closer inspection reveals that although the motors claim to be initializing, they are in fact, not moving.

You may have also noticed that most (perhaps all) of the cryotemps are not reporting.

The problem:

Somehow the Lakeshore 330 temperature controller has been set incorrectly. The few times we've seen this problem, the baud rate was not set at the correct value (300 bps). This led to the cryo temperatures not getting read properly. Logic in the motor control prevents motion if temperatures are either unknown or outside of acceptable ranges.

The solution:

Shutdown NIRSPEC, kill the server, reset the Lakeshore 330 correctly and restart the server.
