CARA Scope of Work for NIRC2 Preamp
1. CARA will be responsible for the design, fabrication, and bench test
of the NIRC2 preamp and associated cables as defined below.
2. Deliverables
The following items will be delivered to UCLA for testing
with the UCLA supplied electronics prior to delivery to CalTech.
1. Fully tested preamp mounted and wired
in a UCLA supplied enclosure. (1x)
2. One set of dewar to preamp cables (1x)
3. All appropriate documentation including schematics
and top assy drawings.
3. Schedule
1. Final design complete by 12/8 for review by CalTech, UCLA
and CARA. Comments should be provided by 12/15 along with
agreement to proceed with fabrication.
2. Tested preamp and cables delivered to UCLA by 2/19/99.
4. Functions and Performance.
1. 32 channels
2. Global offset capability via an analog input.
Ability to handle 0 to -1 volt offsets.
3. +/- 15 volt supply
4. Noise less than tbd
5. Speed tbd
6. Ability to drive 10 ft of twisted pair individually shielded
cable.
7. Gain 4x
8. Cross Coupling < .1%
9. Detector Output Loading: Constant current source @ approx
250 uamps.
10. Detector Output Voltage Range (Cold): 0 to -0.5 volts
11. Peamp output impedance: tbd
12. Preamp output voltage range: +/-5 volts
13. Power dissipation < tbd watts
5. Packaging
1. The Level Shifter and Preamp will reside in identical enclosures
2. UCLA will supply CARA the enclosure by 1/1/99. CARA will
be responsible
for cutting the connector hole cutouts in the enclosure.
3. The output connectors of the Preamp enclosure will be identical to
those on the dewar to allow bypassing of the preamp.
4. Connectors types and pinouts will be provided by UCLA to CARA by
12/1/98. UCLA supplied drawing "NIRC2 Exterior Connection" will
be used for reference.
