Motor Control with the clean room laptop
The laptop can be used in the clean room for controlling and monitoring
the mechanism motors. This is accomplished by establishing a telnet
connection to the Sun host computer called nirc2.
- Powerup and boot the laptop, the power switch is on the right side top
surface of the laptop close to the 'Pause/Break' key. Windows 98 will
eventually boot, wait for the stop watch to disappear.
- Double click (left button) on the icon labelled 'Shortcut to Telnet.exe'
- When the telnet window appears, use the 'Connect' pulldown and select
the NIRC2 sun hosts computer's ip address 131.215.116.49
- When the login prompt appears, login as nirc2eng.
Currently, the telnet sessions can sometimes get into a state where the
up and down arrows do not function as expected (scrolling through the
command history). Until a solution is devised for this problem, it is
necessary to kill the telnet session and start a new one.
