Each Keck instrument has a primary instrument master and a secondary instrument master. The primary instrument master is in overall charge of the instrument, while the secondary serves as a backup. Both are experts at the instrument. In addition, other support astronomers are also knowledgeable about, and support, the instruments. The table below shows these assignments.
